2MASS
OPERATIONS MANAGERS' LOGS
As
specified in the operations
manual a log was kept by the
2MASS operations managers during each night of
observations. The logs were reviewed at UMASS
during
the morning following the observations and corrective action was taken
if problems were
reported. File 991121s.log
is an example of a manager's log from Cerro Tololo.
The logs are named YYMMDDH.log
according
to date and hemisphere of observing facility location.
- YY = last
two digits of the
year of observation 97-01
- MM = month
of
observation 01-12
- DD = day
of
observation 01-31
- H = hemisphere
of
observatory location (n for Mt. Hopkins and s for CTIO) n-s
The
file name is based on the UT
calendar date at the morning following
each night of operations. Thus, for example, the log 991121s.log
was taken during the night
preceding the morning of November 21, 1999 at Cerro Tololo.
Manager's notes about atmospheric
conditions were not routinely used in the evaluation of the quality of
2MASS data.
